Mon Apr 15. To Athens.

Made it.
And yes the yogurt is fantastic.

17 hours-ish to get here. All flights were fine. Boarded the trans-Atlantic flight at 9 PM, put on those eye shades, popped in the ear plugs, reclined the seat to horizontal as soon as the captain let us.. and we were both asleep before the flight attendants handed out menus for dinner. Woke up pretty foggy.

Travel accomplished. And with only carry on, no checked bags. Worked out just fine.

First view out our hotel window, of the Greek Parliament at night. Lit up. We are at the Grande Bretagne, Syntagma Square. Were here 35 years ago on our honeymoon. Did I think to carve our initials somewhere then?

Also first view of the Acropolis. After dinner, at an outdoor casual restaurant on Agora Square, we walked towards the Acropolis, seeing if we could get a view. We did. Can't wait to see it closer.

I am used to pigeons, birds on the wild in a city. And even cats. Here, add dogs. Well fed, large dogs. With tags and collars. Labs and mastiffs and German Shepherds. According to the waiter, they are fed by shop owners, and serve as guards.

Athens is a sprawling city. Great view of the expanse flying in.

The taxi cab? Because in Greek, the letter "X" is three horizontal lines, pronounced 'ex-SCEE'. I just thought that was cool.  All those Greek letters from college multi-variable calculus coming back to haunt me.

Off to bed, sleepy heads.
